Full Event Schedule

The Carter Club is named after Pamela L. Carter, the first female attorney of color, Fortune 500 general counsel.  Join the Carter Club and you’re in good company.  Recent participant list below.  Faculty includes Anastasia Kelly and Michele Coleman Mayes.

Membership Benefits

Carter Club Members learn how to leverage talent.  The gain the PolyD Advantage–rapidly identifying issues and developing productive strategies to overcome their challenges, including:

  • Demonstrating Your Understanding of the Evolving Role of Inside Counsel & Clearly Conveying the Value of Your Team’s Contributions
  • Preserving Opportunities to Expand Your Scope of Responsibilities
  • Increasing Employee Job Satisfaction (studies show productivity increases 20% or more when staff feel positive)
  • Persuading Others of the Value of Your Solutions
  • Diffusing Negative Reactions & Reducing Resistance
  • Influencing Others in Difficult Meetings

Carter Club Members Get Private Mentoring. As pressure mounts on companies to recover from the recent economic downturn, law departments have increased their focus on helping top-level decision-makers avoid risk. At the same time, managers also find themselves having to increase and convey the value their team adds to the company in order to dodge cutbacks and layoffs. Carter Club sessions leverage what can be learned from the real-world experiences of other members and law department management experts.  You get access to private mentoring in a small and confidential venue.

Carter Club Members Gain Experience the Competition Can’t Get.  Programs don’t develop leaders.  Experience does. Carter Club gatherings provide you with experiences of leading. You can immediately put what you learn to use.  Gatherings are more than one-off programs presenting theoretical concepts.   All sessions employ action learning—meaning you get to apply the knowledge in on-the-spot simulations of actual incidents faced by women of color in organizations like yours.
